Terrific Turkey – Cultural Riches and Sunshine On the Other Side of the Continent
November 28, 2007 on 12:40 pm | In Turkey | No CommentsOn the other side of Europe to Britain, Turkey is an enchanting country where East meets West. Over the centuries it has absorbed the influences of invader after invader, ranging from the Hittites to the Romans, the Ottomans and many others. Its unique position between the continents of Europe and Asia makes diversity its name. This diversity is reflected in the country’s literature, music, art and architecture.
Tourism in Turkey is focused largely on a variety of archaeological and historical sites, and on seaside resorts along its Aegean and Mediterranean coasts.
Mosaic Holidays provides vacations to the capital Istanbul which rests between Europe and Asia. The city has a number of major attractions derived from its huge historical status as capital of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. These include the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (the “Blue Mosque”), the Hagia Sophia, the Topkap Palace, the Basilica Cistern, the Dolmabahce Palace, the Galata Tower, the Grand Bazaar, and the Pera Palas.
You can also travel with Mosaic Holidays to Antalya and Bodrum. The former has a hot climate and is known as the gateway to the Turkish Riviera and many historical sites. Bodrum is situated on a stunning peninsula and is home of the famous Greek historian Herodotus. It is the perfect holiday destination, with miles of sandy beaches and enchanting villages full of houses painted in white and trimmed with purple bougainvillea.
Mosaic Holidays has been providing holidays to Turkey for many years and you can currently enjoy an exclusive 8% discount by booking online.

North Cyprus – One of The Last Unexplored Gems of Europe
November 13, 2007 on 5:14 pm | In Cyprus | No CommentsNorth Cyprus declared its independence from the southern half of the island in 1983, nine years after a Greek Cypriot coup attempting to annex the island to Greece triggered a Turkish invasion of Cyprus. The Republic has received diplomatic recognition only from Turkey, on which it is dependent for economic, political and military support.
The isolation has caused hardship for the people of North Cyprus, but it has meant that it is one of the few gems of the Mediterranean which has been unspoiled by mass tourism. On the crossroads of three continents, the island has been invaded time and time again, leading to a rich and varied culture.
Untouched beaches, legendary hospitality and a wealth of history combine to make this an unforgettable holiday experience. North Cyprus boasts a slow pace of life, value for money and gorgeous sunshine for all those sun-starved Brits.
The coastline is breathtaking with ancient harbours where you can dine al-fresco and beaches that stretch for miles, whilst the depths of the crystal-clear azure seas offers many of the region’s best dive sites. A labyrinth of craft shops, historic sites and family-owned restaurants await exploration in North Cyprus’ lively towns, whilst idyllic scenery and ancient rustic villages gently dot the countryside.
Mosaic Holidays is one of the few operators to provide holidays to North Cyprus and serves Famagusta, a harbour town on the eastern shores of North Cyprus and Kyrenia, another picture-postcard harbour town on the northern coast.
You may find out more about each location on the Mosaic Holidays website. There is a currently a huge 8% discount if you book online.
